Promotes revenue enhancement and compliance to include laws and regulations by reviewing then reporting based on information gained from HIM record along with claim scrubber. Ensure accurate, complete charge capture and correct, timely billing. Provide charging compliance feedback and education to the hospital departments. Participates in Customer service and Defense audits as requested. Provide education on Denied claim data based on reporting information.
Must be familiar with health care insurance billing, federal and state billing compliance guidelines for hospitals. Demonstrated knowledge of CPT-4 codes and ICD-9-CM codes is required. Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Professional Coder-Hospital (CPC-H) is highly preferred. Experience with Excel is required. Knowledge of Electronic Medical records . Ability to work independently, identify and resolve problems. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including ability to resolve conflicts with tact and diplomacy, work with all levels of management. Willingness to learn new skills and information including regulatory developments. Previous Revenue Integrity experience highly desirable.
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
Certifications and Credentials: Graduate of accredited school of Nursing and Registered Nurse.
Experience: At least five years of experience in a hospital setting, preferably cardiology, radiology, surgery or utilization review. Previous Revenue Integrity experience highly desirable.
